IBTC: cycling and hiking are the future!

Stimulating cycling and hiking tourism is one of Hicle’s objectives. It was therefore only logical that Hicle organized a conference on this subject.

The IBTC, or the International Bike & hike Tourism Conference, originally started as a 100% cycling conference. In 2020, the first edition took place in Jaarbeurs Utrecht, on the eve of the Fiets en Wandelbeurs in the same exhibition complex.

Designers of cycling routes and networks and employees of tourism agencies, travel organizations and interest groups found their way to the first IBTC edition.

Due to the corona epidemic, the IBTC went online in 2021 and 2022. This did not pose any substantive obstacles. And through roundtable sessions, participants could easily exchange ideas with each other about current topics.

To make networking even better, another physical edition was planned for 2024, again on the eve of the Fiets en Wandelbeurs in Jaarbeurs Utrecht. Because the number of registrations did not meet expectations, the conference was canceled two weeks before the planned event date.

Hicle is now investigating the possibilities of holding the conference at a different time, online or offline.
