E-bike Challenge 2024: go electric!

Flanders Expo in Ghent is the setting for the largest e-bike test event in the Benelux: E-bike Challenge. For two days there will be every opportunity to put electric bicycles from different brands to the test on a large indoor track. A ticket for the Challenge also gives access to the Fiets en Wandelbeurs. So two events for the price of one!

Wide variety

The 16 participating brands in the Challenge ensure a wide variety in the range. From e-folding bikes to e-touring bikes, and from trendy e-city bikes to speed pedelecs and e-cargo bikes. You can test them extensively on the large indoor track. This track is no less than one kilometer long and meanders through Hall 1. There is a separate lane for speed pedelecs where you can safely reach the top speed of 45 km/h.

The latest trends

There are all kinds of new models to discover and try out. What is striking: more and more models have wide tires and wide frame tubes, which gives them a sturdy and robust look, plus they provide more comfort. The longtails are also a trend; an extended, compact (e-)bike on which you can easily take small children with you. The city e-bike segment continues to grow, resulting in all kinds of trendy models that appeal to young and old.

MGU from Pinion

In terms of technology, the engine, battery, shifting systems, displays and the connectivity between those parts continue to develop. One of the novelties is the MGU from Pinion,a motor and gearbox in one, unique in the e-bike world. The MGU is relatively light, shifts smoothly and only needs new oil once every 10,000 km.

Fiets en Wandelbeurs

A ticket for the Challenge also gives access to the Fiets en Wandelbeurs, with a wide range of cycling and walking destinations, routes, outdoor equipment, bicycle accessories, bicycle bags and much more. Experienced travelers will take you on their cycling and walking journeys in five lecture rooms. And then there are also two cycling information markets, where volunteers answer all your cycling questions.
